5 songs are too few

Yes I agree Michele… I plan to get more tutors on board so that we can cover them all.

cheers

Moanin by Bobby Timmons please

Good call Lori!

It’s a minor blues which is different from the basic and jazz blues form… perhaps this can be a series of lessons exploring the minor blues form and then using Moanin as the practical study.

I’ve swapped it into the poll above… I replaced one of the tunes with no votes.

I also voted for it :grinning:

The next 2 lessons are ‘Estate’ and ‘Satin Doll’ and we will come back to a blues study soon.

hi, I just do not know them well enough to vote at this point… but, ego aside, I had to vote for my namesake. Aloha

Thanks for casting your votes Cheryl… I like that everyone can have a say on new lesson topics.

Have a search for some of the tune titles in YouTube or Spotify… you might find a new favourite

Cheers.

How about Goodbye Porkpie Hat, which also provides, in addition to the blues, opportunities to discuss chord substitutions?

Hi Josh - thanks for the suggestion… great tune and I’ve added it into the poll above to keep track of it.

We’ll be covering more blues tunes soon.

Cheers.

Before You Accuse Me.

St Louis Blues

Great suggestions… thanks Randy.

Hayden, I’d love Stormy Monday. One of my all time blues favs. And by the way, thanks so much for reaching out and asking us.

My pleasure Bryan… thanks for submitting the tune

You can learn this song from just listening to it!! Jimmy plays it so simply and yet with such groove and feeling. He almost makes me believe that I CAN be more amidextrous and swing the blues…

Lovely recording Lori…

A great example that a solo doesn’t have to be virtuosic for it to swing and have a groove!

I’m very excited to bring blues tutors on board to cover this style in more detail. I’m aiming for the next 3-4 weeks to have at least 1 or 2 more courses on the blues and also the minor blues form as we discussed above.
